Urgent care is immediate dental care provided for emergency pain or injury involving the teeth or soft tissue of your mouth. Because alleviating your pain and preventing further complications are of paramount importance to Dr. Yang, he provides patients of all ages with same-day appointments when dental emergencies occur.
Among the most common emergencies treated at Sugarfree Dental are:
More than five million teeth are knocked out every year, according to the American Association of Endodontists. The good news is that in many cases these teeth can be saved. The first step is to keep the removed tooth moist until reaching Dr. Yang’s office. Gently rinse it in water to remove dirt, but don’t scrub. If possible, place the tooth back into the socket without touching the root. The root can be damaged easily, and these cells are needed for reattachment. If the tooth can not be placed back into the socket, the next best thing is to store it in the mouth or immerse it in milk or saliva.
However, baby teeth should never be put back in the socket when knocked out. Doing so can negatively impact the permanent tooth underneath.
Even if you're unable to recover your tooth, it's still important that you see Dr. Kyu Yang as soon as possible. He can determine if there is any damage to the jaw or soft tissues of the mouth and decide on the best course of treatment.
